Adopted in February 2025, Regulation (EU) 2025/40 requires Member States to undertake a profound transformation in packaging waste management.
This ambitious text sets new targets for reduction, reuse, and recyclability of packaging materials, with implementation scheduled for August 2026.

The new European regulation marks a decisive step towards a circular economy. It mandates a gradual reduction in packaging volume, targeting a 5% decrease by 2030, and 15% by 2040.
